EASTERN BROWN 47, HILLSBORO 44
The Hillsboro Indians boys basketball team saw two leads of 10 points disappear by the early fourth quarter Monday, as they suffered their 7th straight loss in one of the few basketball games played in the area.
Hillsboro (3-11 overall/0-8 SCOL) led 27-17 at the half and again 32-22 with three minutes left in the third period, when Eastern went on a 8-1 run to cut the deficit to 33-30 going into the 4th quarter. Eastern would take their first lead in the game at 36-35 midway in the 4th period & extend the lead to 5 points with under a minute left in the game.
Hillsboro made a final move with 43 seconds left as Austin Bagshaw hit his fourth three point shot of the game and was fouled making his free throw to complete the four point play pulling Hillsboro to within 43-42.
Bagshaw led Hillsboro with 13 points & Latrell Haithcock added 10 points. Hillsboro, after shooting 55% from the field in the 1st half including 5 of 7 on three point shots, cooled off in the second half hitting only 17% of their shots. They also were only 4 of 12 from the free throw line & had 24 turnovers in the game. They did outrebound Eastern Brown 21-13.
Eastern Brown (11-3) was led by Nathan Scott with 17 points- putting him only 8 points short of 1,000 in his playing career.
Hillsboro is scheduled to host Greenfield McClain Tuesday night---weather permitting. The varsity game will air on Buckeye Country 1055 & I Heart Radio around 7:15pm.
On December 20th Greenfield McClain won 42-37 over Hillsboro snapping a 12 game & 5 season losing streak to the Indians.
