SCOL Track & Field Day 1 Recap

The first day of the SCOL Track & Field Championships saw close races in both divisions as a total of seven finals were decided in the Boys and Girls divisions combined.

GIRLS:
The Washington Court House Lady Lions picked up championships in two of the three final events.

Tori Merritt picked up the high jump league title defeating Clinton-Massie’s Hannah Duncan in a jump off. Both ladies had a high jump of 5 feet with a tie breaker having to be held.

The Lady Lions 4 x 800 meter relay team of Alexis Gray, Kynzie Osbourne, Maggie Dellinger and Molly Richards won with time of 10.21.82. Miami Trace and Hillsboro finished 2nd and 3rd place.

McClain’s Tara Karnes captured the shot put title with a toss of 38 feet 9 inches.
Going into Thursday’s running and the remaining field events finals, Washington (21 pts) has a slim lead over Chillicothe (20). Miami Trace (19) is in 3rd place followed by Clinton-Massie and McClain (17) and Hillsboro (16).

BOYS:
Greenfield McClain leads the Boys standings with 37 points, followed by Washington (34). Miami Trace is in 3rd place (32) points, then Clinton-Massie (21), Chillicothe (16), Hillsboro (8) and East Clinton (7).

Tuesday, Chillicothe’s 4 x 800 meter relay team of Ben Haller, Donavan Lowe, Jack Whalen and Ryan Mathis won the league title in a time of 8.29.28.

Logan Wilson of Washington won the Long Jump at 19 feet and 1/2 inch, Ryan Falcouner of McClain won the discus at a toss of 134 feet 11 inches and Clinton-Massie’s Dylan Collins won the Pole Vault at 12 feet.    

Events continue Thursday afternoon at Washington Senior High School.
