WASHINGTON CH 59, MIAMI TRACE 47
The Washington Court House Blue Lions boys basketball team used a 22-8 second quarter margin to defeat Miami Trace at the Panther Pit Friday night in SCOL action.
The Blue Lions (3-1/2-0 SCOL) shot 43% from the field (including 7 of 13 on three point shots) as they won their 3rd straight game of the season.
Washington also was 10 of 12 from the charity line & had 14 turnovers. The Blue Lions were led by Garrett Phipps with 19 points & Conner Eckles with 13.
Miami Trace shot only 28% from the field including 1 of 16 on three point shots & was 14 of 26 at the free throw line. They also turned the ball over 14 times.
Panthers (3-1/0-1 SCOL) were led by Cedric Pettiford 13 points & Trevor Smith added 9 points.
Washington will play Tuesday at East Clinton in another SCOL contest & Miami Trace will host Hillsboro. The varsity game between the Panthers & the Indians will air that evening around 7:15pm on Buckeye Country & I Heart Radio.
The Cavaliers Tommy Bolte poured in 25 points as Chillicothe picked up their 1st SCOL boys basketball win of the season.
Chillicothe jumped out to a 4-0 lead but Hillsboro slowly got back into the contest & in fact led 15-9 after the first quarter. Chillicothe battled back & went back & forth with the Indians through the 2nd quarter before the Cavs pulled away to a 25-19 halftime lead.
Hillsboro regained the lead at 33-32 with 10 seconds left in the 3rd period but it would be their last lead of the game as Chillicothe hit a three pointer to go into the final quarter with a 35-33 lead.
Chillicothe hit 48% from the field & was 7 of 8 from the free throw line in the last 8 minutes of the game to keep the lead & goes to 2-2 overall & 1-1 in the SCOL.
Hillsboro (2-2/0-1 SCOL) was led by Jordan Captain with 12 points & Latrell Haitchock with 10 points.
Hillsboro will be at Miami Trace on Tuesday. Unless Chillicothe game from last week with Amanda Clearcreek is rescheduled in the next few days,the Cavs are off till Monday December 23rd when they play at Logan Elm.
GREENFIELD MCCLAIN 50, EAST CLINTON 40
McClain had three players in double figures to pull away in the 2nd half to defeat East Clinton Friday night.
Thomas Schrader led the Tigers with 20 points, Evan Mustard had 12 & Ryan Faulconer added 10 points.
McClain (2-1/1-0 SCOL) is scheduled to play host to North Adams on Tuesday.
East Clinton (2-1/0-1 SCOL) was led by Clyde Snow & Caleb Caplinger with 11 points each & Dalton Floyd with 8 points. The Astros are scheduled to host Greeneview Saturday evening.
