District 9 Weekly Travel Report
For the week ending November 22, 2014: The following traffic advisory includes road construction and major maintenance projects requiring lane restrictions and/or closures along the state and federal highway system within ODOT District 9. For statewide information regarding road conditions affected by weather, construction, maintenance or accidents, visit ODOT on the web at www.Ohgo.com

DISTRICTWIDE

A guardrail repair and replacement project is under way, and crews will be replacing guardrail at various locations in Lawrence, Pike and Scioto counties as weather permits. Traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers and temporary signals as needed when crews are at work. The project is scheduled to be completed in late fall. (#14-0342)

ADAMS COUNTY

A minor widening and lane configuration project is under way on S.R. 32. Crews will be constructing a westbound acceleration lane at the route's intersection with S.R. 73, as well as reconfiguring left-turn lanes on S.R. 73. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained on all routes; however, restrictions will be in place on S.R. 32. (#14-8031)

BROWN COUNTY

A sidewalk/bike path construction project is under way in Aberdeen. As part of the SRTS program, crews will be constructing a shared-use path along U.S. 52, between Huntington Avenue and Elm Street. There should be little to no impact to traffic, and the project is anticipated to be completed in mid-fall. (#14-0372)

      

FAYETTE COUNTY

 Flakes Ford from Armburst Rd to US 41 will be closed for culvert replacement. (Closed until 11/26/14)

 

HIGHLAND COUNTY

A resurfacing project on S.R. 124, between the Highland-Clinton County line and the city of Hillsboro, is nearing completion. Crews have minor finishing work; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. Traffic will be maintained with the aid of flaggers as needed. (#14-0111)

JACKSON COUNTY

Operations for a grade separation project at U.S. 35 and C.R. 9 (Keystone Furnace Road) are under way. Currently, traffic impacts are minimal, and traffic is being maintained on all mainline routes during construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by early summer of 2015. (#14-0140)

LAWRENCE COUNTY

A bridge replacement project is under way on S.R. 7 at the Indian Guyan Creek bridge, just west of Proctorville. Traffic is being maintained in one, 11-foot lane with temporary traffic signals. (#14-0078)

A signal and lighting project is under way on U.S. 52 at the Ashland, Ky. twin bridges at Coal Grove. Traffic is being maintained on U.S. 52 and on the bridges; however, lane restrictions will be in place at various intervals, with U.S. 52 reduced to one lane and traffic shifted to the shoulder of the roadway. Throughout the project, motorists may encounter intermittent periods of delay in the construction zone, particularly during peak travel times. All work is scheduled to be completed in late fall. The Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement project is under way, with work being conducted off affected roadways. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky. (#11-0628)

As part of the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement, First Street and Campbell Avenue in Ironton will be closed intermittently during daytime, business hours for construction of the Ohio approach. Crews will move from site to site, imparting separate closures as they progress through this phase of the project. Motorists will be detoured locally in downtown.

PIKE COUNTY

A bridge replacement and realignment project on T.R. 524 (Swift Creek Road), at its junction with S.R. 335, is nearing completion. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with temporary signals, and the project is scheduled to be completed by mid-fall. (#14-0286)

C.R. 37 (Buchanan Road) is closed between S.R. 220 and S.R. 772 for a bridge replacement project. The project site is located just north of Pleasant Hill Road, and the closure will be in effect for up to 90 days. Motorists will be detoured via S.R. 220 and S.R. 772. (#14-0356)

ROSS COUNTY

A resurfacing project on S.R. 180, between S.R. 159 and the village of Adelphi, is nearing completion. Crews have minor finishing work; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. Traffic will be maintained with the aid of flaggers as needed. (#14-0369) A turn-lane addition and widening project on S.R. 159 at the Kenworth Drive intersection is nearing completion. Traffic impacts should be minimal; however, traffic will be maintained in at least one lane and by flaggers as needed. All work is anticipated to be completed in late November. (#14-0118)

SCIOTO COUNTY

A demolition project is under way within the corridor of the upcoming S.R. 823 (Portsmouth Bypass) project. Crews are clearing property obtained for the project; however, there should be little to no impact to traffic. All work is anticipated to be completed in early winter. (#14-2001)

A realignment project on S.R. 140 at C.R. 14 (Allegheny Hill Road) and C.R. 13 (Gephart Road) is nearing completion. Crews have finishing work to complete; however, lane restrictions have been lifted, and the route is now open to two-way traffic. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers as needed when crews are work, and all work is anticipated to be completed by late November. (#14-0225)

A resurfacing and guardrail installation project on S.R. 335, between C.R. 31 (Swauger Valley Road) and C.R. 12 (Bennett Schoolhouse Road), is nearing completion. Traffic is being maintained in one lane with temporary signals and by flaggers. All work is anticipated to be completed by late November. (#14-0119)

Restrictions are in effect on U.S. 52 East, S.R. 139 and Lakeview Avenue in New Boston for a sewer line installation project by the village. Currently, eastbound U.S. 52 is reduced to one lane between Glenwood Avenue and Clayport Street, and westbound U.S. 52 is now open to two lanes of traffic. In addition, S.R. 139 (Park Avenue) is closed between the U.S. 52 (east and west) intersections, and motorists are being detoured locally.
